In Cleopatra's pharaonic palace, Caesar provokes the Queen of Egypt. Exasperated, she challenges the Emperor. She will do the impossible: build the most beautiful palace ever, in the middle of the desert, in only three months. If she succeeds, Caesar will acknowledge the Egyptian people as the greatest of all. Cleopatra hires Numerobis, an energetic, avant-garde architect. If he can do it, he will be rich; if not, he will become the crocodiles' feast. For the task he would need supernatural powers. Luckily, he happens to know Panoramix, the famous Gallic wizard. With the help of Asterix and Obelix, they will have to fight the weather, Roman Army attacks, and another tricky, Machiavellian architect, Amonbofis
 Dans le palais pharaonique de Cléopâtre, César provoque la reine d'Egypte. A bout de nerfs, elle lance un défi a priori irréalisable pour l'empereur romain : construire le plus beau des palais en plein désert, [.] et en trois mois seulement ! Si elle y parvient, celui-ci devra concéder publiquement que le peuple égyptien est le plus grand de tous les peuples.
Pour ce faire, Cléopâtre fait appel à Numérobis, un architecte d'avant-garde plein d'énergie. S'il réussit, elle le couvrira d'or. S'il échoue, elle le jettera aux crocodiles. Pour parvenir à ce résultat " abracadabrantesque ", il lui faudrait les pouvoirs surnaturels d'un mage ! Ça tombe bien, il connaît Panoramix, célèbre druide gaulois. Avec l'aide d'Astérix et Obélix, ils vont ensemble devoir lutter contre le temps, les mauvais coups des Romains et surtout déjouer les tours d'un autre architecte, Amonbofis, un être machiavélique...

Born September 24th, 1958, in Oran (Algeria).
The Chabat family arrived in France in 1963. Alain Chabat drew comic strips and composed music before being hired by a Monaco radio station, where he met Pierre Lescure. He followed him to the radio program Les Enfants du Rock and then to the Canal+ pay-TV channel. He first presented the comic weather report and then the program Prochainement sur Canal+.
At the end of the 80's, he met Chantal Lauby, Dominique Farrugia and Bruno Carette, forming with them the group called Les Nuls (the good-for-nothings), acting as comedians on Canal +. This program ceased in March 1992 to allow them to write their film: Fear City, which was released in 1994. Chabat then directed his first feature film, Didier, in 1997, in which he also acted as Jean-Pierre Bacri's labrador.
He continued his career as an actor in Hard Off, The Taste of Others and Asterix & Obelix : Mission Cleopatre, which he also directed.
The budget for this film reached 50.3 million euros (A$100.6m), a record for a French film. It has been a huge success in France and abroad. |

La famille Chabat arrive en France en 1963. Alain Chabat cherche sa voie dans la BD, dans la musique, avant d'être engagé sur RMC, où il rencontre Pierre Lescure et le suit ensuite aux Enfants du rock puis sur Canal+. Il fait ses premiers pas à la télévision en monsieur météo déjanté, puis en animant Prochainement sur Canal+.
A la fin des années 1980, il rencontre Chantal Lauby, Dominique Farrugia et Bruno Carette, et ils forment l'équipe Les Nuls, qui se déchaîne à la télevision, et notamment sur Canal +. Ils arrêtent l'émission en mars 1992 pour l'écriture de leur film : La Cité de la peur, qui sortira en mars 1994, puis il réalise son premier long-métrage Didier, qui sort en janvier 1997, où il interprète le rôle du labrador de Jean-Pierre Bacri.
Il poursuit sa carrière d'acteur avec La Débandade, Le Goût des autres et Astérix et Obélix : mission Cléopâtre, dont il signe également la réalisation.
